I WRITE TO AMPLIFY MY VOICE.

I WRITE TO PACIFY MY VOICE.

My name is Patrick, but my good friends call me PattyCakes. I'm a senior at the University of Michigan studying in the Program in Philosophy, Polotics & Economics. I am also pursuing a minor in computer science, and a minor in writing from the Sweetland Center for Writing. Additionally, I am an amateur chef, avid hiker, and a fan of long walks on a moonlit beach.

I believe that the written word can convey messages that cannot be understood in any other medium. I am a big believer supporter of inappropriately using whitespace, making up words, and excessively using explanatory footnotes. Some would say it is a stylistic choice, I say it's actually a maturaity issue...

The long of the short of it is that this is a writing portfolio to showcase my growth as a writer.  Specifically, it highlights the work that I have done while in the Gateway class for the Minor in Writing. For the minor, we have explored our own understanding of what can draw a person to write, and also methods to changing the style and mode of expression for a piece.

To the right, you will see my writing manifesto. These are things that I hold to be true about writers and the art of writing. If you share my views, then chances are that you might like some of what you see here.

It is also worthwhile to note that the design of this website is meant to be interactive. Clicking on some buttons or pictures will take you to some interesting places. All of the surprises are safe for work, and some of them are, in my not so humble opinion, hilarious (CLICK ON THE PICTURE OF ME ON THE HOME PAGE).
